Scars... Away with YOU!!

Several years ago I found an Essential Oil recipe in one of my mother's boxes of paperwork.  It was for scars.  Well, about 3 months ago my little one and a half year old angel fell onto a door and had to have stitches just barely below her hair line.  My husband and I felt bad because we were sure it would scar.  The doctor told us it should heal up nicely, but there will be a little mark there, "luckily it's right at her hair line, she can kind of cover it up," he said.  I had different plans for her.  I pulled out my essential oils and put together the oils from this recipe EXACTLY how it said to do it.  Oils can't just be thrown in together, they go in in a certain order to maintain their healthful properties, otherwise you can end up making a useless concoction.  Anyway, I put the recipe on her forehead once a day (and missed a few days here and there), and just watched it as it slowly began to heal up.  So, a few days ago I was playing with her hair and noticed that I couldn't see her scar!  I was flabbergasted!!!  When she runs around hard and gets really red in her face, sometimes that same spot where it was will turn a little red, but I suspect that that will eventually fade and go away as well.  What a wonderful surprise though, it worked!!  Here's the recipe:

10 drops Helichrysum
6 Lavender
8 Lemongrass
4 Patchouli
5 Myrrh
1 oz. carrier oil

The oils MUST be added together in the order above.  Do not put in first the Lavender, or any other oil, it must be done in order.

Word to the nursing about Peppermint Oil

Just a word to those of you who are nursing babies.  Look at the Essential Oil bottle if you're using a blend and make sure that there is no peppermint in it, or if there is use the blend sparingly.  Peppermint oil will dry you up!  I had a bit of a sore stomach (ate waayyyy too much homemade chocolate yumm) so I've been putting a GREAT digestion blend in my water.  It worked like a charm, except it has peppermint oil in it, which is awesome, but I'm nursing a three month old and after 2 days of putting 1drop in my water I noticed I wasn't letting down and my baby was getting a little frustrated while nursing.  So, I won't be using that unless it's an emergency and/or until I've stopped nursing.

    Oil UP it works!!!

ps if you've stopped nursing and are experiencing engorgment grab that peppermint bottle and apply directly to the breasts and put one drop in a glass of water several times a day until the symptoms let up or you dry up completely.

My 18 month old sqashed her fingers in the door.

My poor 1 and half year old was playing in the hallway with the doors in front of our washer and dryer.  They're the kind of doors that fold open and closed so it's easy to get your finger stuck in the crack of them and close the door on them.  Well, Lillianne did just that.  I came running to her rescue and swooped her up with big tears in her eyes screaming like she'd, well, just had her fingers shut in a door.  So, I went for my oils and grabbed the 'all powerful' Lavender.  I rubbed the rim and edges of the bottle straight onto her little fingers, I didn't even take any from out of the bottle, and gently started to rub it in.  It took about 2 honest seconds before she stopped crying and laid her head on my chest.  I continued to rub it into her fingers (not too much because if she rubbed her eyes that would be painful in her eyes) until I couldn't see the marks from the door anymore.  I tell ya what, Lavender is AMAZING!  I don't think I will ever leave home without it.  I can't believe how fast it works.  Now my daughter is napping and happy.  :)

Note:  If you use too much lavender, especially on a child or infant (too much = 3 or more drops) you will actually stimulate the body and mind, thus it will have the opposite effect of what you're trying to accomplish if it is being used to sooth and create calmness.

How to get Rid of Acne!!! Check it out!

I've never heard about this before until just the other day and by golly it works!!  :-D
Anyone who has ever struggled with acne knows the pain and embarrasment it causes.  I, for one, let it run my life for a loooooong time.  Sometimes when I was having an especially bad breakout I wouldn't leave the house.  I'd hide my face in my room and miss out on the wonderful things in life that were happening all around me, passing me by.  I thought that when people looked at me all they saw was my skin.  I tried EVERYTHING!  I tried eating only organic foods, I put honey on my face twice a day everyday, pro-active, that really harsh lotion you get from the dermatologist (which damaged my skin, but I got it back with frankincense essential oil), finally I tried a low grade antibiotic that worked a little.  I almost went on acutane, but felt that the risks way out weighed the results.  Then I got married and 2 months later was pregnant.  That seemed to fix it pretty good, but I still get little things here and there and I am excited about this method that is new to me.
The treatment is natural, cheap, and easy.  It's called the oil cleansing method.  You use 1 part castor oil and 2 parts extra virgin olive oil, with a drop of Palmarosa essential oil ($10 on the website www.healthandwellnesseo.weebly.com, it enhances the effects).  Massage this mixture into your face and take a hot washcloth and hold it on your face until it feels cold.  Rinse the residue off of the cloth and gently wipe your face.  Repeat the process one more time.  In the morning your face will feel smooth and creamy.  Note:  your skin will get worse before it gets better, so make sure you don't have any plans for about a week and hang in there!  Most people have results WITHIN the first week so be on the watch out for beautiful, brand new skin coming your way!!!    Also, Palmarosa essential oil is a great spot treatment.  I get those big ones on my neck that just get all red and inflamed before finally go away.  I put just one drop on my finger and rub it into all the spots and by that night -- GONE!   All smiles in my house.  :)
Also, today I used lemon essential oil in my shampoo when washing my hair.  YOU'VE GOT TO TRY IT!!  It cuts grease without drying out my scalp!  Found my new favorite hair treatment, WOOT!!!

My baby was crying from a cut on her finger so I...

I feel like a horrible mom!  Yesterday morning I was clipping my 3 month old's finger nails (they were crazy long) and I got bumped in the back and OH SHOOT, I CLIPPED MY GIRL'S FINGER!!!  It bled a little on the tip and she cried as if her leg had just been amputated without anesthetics.  I felt so bad feeling like there wasn't anything I could do to relieve her pain.  What a horrible feeling for a mother to have.  We want to be able to fix anything that they need and be there for our little bundles.  While Hannah was still crying I remembered that I have Lavender essential oil (www.healthandwellnesseo.weebly.com) and put not even a drop right on her ouch-ie and voila!!  She INSTANTLY stopped crying!  It was amazing!!  I didn't know it would work that quickly on a cut and I'm sure grateful that it did.  It hasn't hurt her since!  So nice.  Another great essential oil story from the Dobbins Family.  :D  Oil UP it works!!!

My baby wouldn't stop crying so I...

I have a sweet, little 3 month old named Hannah that does not like it when I eat spicy foods.  So a few nights ago I had eaten 4 or 5 of those spicy popper, thingies that are fried and you can just pop 'em in your mouth for a spicy bite.  I thought only having 4 or 5 wouldn't affect my milk too much, however, the next morning after Hannah nursed she started crying and WOULD NOT STOP!!  I mean, she really would NOT stop crying.  I was getting worried after about 45 minutes that something was really wrong and maybe I needed to take her to a Dr.  So, before I made those arrangements I remembered that I had had some spicy food and maybe her tummy was just very upset.  I have per la Digestion from Vitruvian Natural Health that can be purchased from www.healthandwellnesseo.weebly.com, and put some fractionated coconut oil (which can also be purchased there) with literally ONE drop of the digestion essential oil blend and rubbed it into her feet.  The INSTANT (I kid you not) it touched her feet she stopped crying and straight away smiled and cooed at me.  I couldn't believe it!!  I know I've had amazing success using essential oils, but to see them work so quickly on my sweet baby was absolutely amazing.  I was so relieved to have finally found a solution and here it was with me all the time.

After about a half an hour she started fussing again so I did it again and the same thing, only that time she closed her eyes and slept for 2 hours.  The next day she was happy as a clam.  :)   I am so grateful for my essential oil vials of 'gold.'
